Anti-Pop Consortium – “Capricorn One”

This shouldn’t have taken six years, but the first track off of Anti-Pop Consortium’s new album is ready and willing to be exploited. It kinda sounds like Slint turned into a dance group and found a few emcees, but it might grow on you. Fluorescent Black is due out October 13th on Big Dada.

R.I.P. Koko Taylor (1928 – 2009)

I can’t say that she was my favorite blues singer, but there’s no doubt that Koko could belt ‘em out. During the early ’00s, I was fortunate enough to see her perform in SE Ohio. And for a woman of that vintage, Koko was still screamin’ out the chorus from “Wang Dang Doodle” and singing the praises of Chicago. She apparently passed away as a result of complications from surgery. Bunk.

Psychedelic Bullshit

Just another reason why folks from Ohio kick your ass. Psychedelic Horseshit might not really matter in ten years, but the interview in the Washington Post with head horseshit Matt Whitehurst is just short of knee slapping hilarious.

He sounds pretty ignorant at times – that happens when you disagree with yourself – but much of what he figures about Wavves is truth to power. Don’t let the following quote discourage you from reading the ENTIRE post. It’s pretty repugnant.

I wanna make “OK Computer.” You know? I wanna sound like Radiohead. I don’t give a [expletive] about lo-fi. [Expletive] that [expletive]. It’s stupid. It’s a cop out.
