History of a Dee Jay: Return of the Rub-a-Dub Style (Trailer)
You can see King Stitt’s teeth and one of U-Roy’s hats in addition to finding out what a real deejay is…Check out some more Echodelic Soundsystem work HERE.
Don Drummond x Re-Issues

“Bellevue Special” b/w “Up and Down” has apparently been so sought after that a Japanese label reissued the single from Skatalites’ trombonist Don Drummond. It’s not at all detached from the Skatalites’ catalog, but for the collector geek in you, COP IT.

The Meat Puppets x ALARM Magazine
Brother Cris talks about the Meat Puppets’ newest disc and where it got cobbled together while Brother Curt talks about success. It’s weird to see these guys at this point, but it’s kinda like listening to stories from your grandpa.
The Velvet Underground x Beck
An explanation is down below, but here’s Beck working out a few cuts from the first Velvet Underground album. These are interpretations as much as covers, so you might wanna just dust off those old cds…
“An informal meeting of various people to record an album in a day. An album will be chosen to be reinterpreted and used as a framework. Nothing rehearsed or arranged ahead of time. A track will be uploaded once a week on beck.com as well as through the web sites of those involved with the project.”
The Beach Boys vs. Murry Wilson (Streaming Audio)

I saw this over at Pathway to Unknown Worlds a few days ago and considering the fact that Brian Wilson is a fascinating weirdo, hearing some of these conversations seemed more than necessary.
The Wilson’s father, Murry, seems to mean well, but with an admittedly temperamental congregation, some of pop’s phrasings might be ill conceived. All of these come out while the group is trying to get down “Rhonda,” and some of Murry’s best quips are below, but wade through the clips to find some more.
“Quit screaming and sing from your hearts.”
“You guys think you’re good?”
“I’m a genius too…”
ODB Documentary Trailer
Following ODB’s brother around the streets of his neighborhood might only yield a few stories from some scurrilous sources, but there’s certainly a narrative arc here. ODB probably wouldn’t have been forgotten even if this film hadn’t come to fruition, but it’ll be a good watch…
Actual Pain Presents: The Sonic Youth Mix Tape

There was some article at the Fader about how incredible and clever the dude behind Actual Pain is and or was. So, I poked around that site for a moment and found that the $40 t-shirts were not only $40 fuqin’ dollars, but sported tiger’s heads and various other images that dudes working convenient stores might need to don.
There were some mix tapes, including this here Sonic Youth deal. The inclusion of the collab below makes me think that the time invested was well worth it.
Amon Düül II x 1969/1971
There really is no end to the serpentine jamming that Amon Düül gets into. The various line ups might have had varying impact on music, but a good chunk of it, in general, is pretty decent.
That clip up top even made it into Niklashauser Abfart, a 1970 Rainer Werner Fassbinder flick from 1970.
Andy Warhol: “I’m the Boy Wonder”

Everyone already knew that Andy Warhol was a bit odd. Here’s photographic proof. And since Nico’s in there, I wondered the other day who got to her Teutonic loins first – Lou Reed or Bob Dylan?

Feathers and All: Amen Dunes

Amen Dunes isn’t gonna end up on a lot of year-end lists, but maybe it should…
