Version City Podcast, #09

vc

While I’m able to listen to almost everything related to King Django, a few of these podcasts kinda seem like adverts. They do keep getting better, even if each are under a half hour. But a half hour of music from the Ska Mob is better than nothing.

01. Crazy Baldhead – “Version City Rockers” (featuring Mush One & Saint Edward)
02. Sic & Mad – “Devils and Snakes”
03. The Soul Merchants – “Swing or Tan” (featuring Dr. Ring Ding)
04. Victor Rice – “Long Island City”
05. Bomb Town – “Babylon Girl”
06. Predator Dub Assassins – “Air Force One”
07. Blue Beat Players – “Torrid Rock”
08. King Django – “Nokh a Shtik”

Crystal Stilts x 2 Videos

“Love is a Wave,” from the Crystal Stilts 7 inch, might not be as strong as anything off of Alight in the Night, but its close. And really, since tracks from that Slumberland released full length surpass most other rock schlock from the last ten years, listeners can’t necessarily expect everything from the Brooklyn based band to get into that territory.

Snagged @ Sterogum.

Sir Richard Bishop – The Freak of Araby (Drag City, 2009)

This somehow manages to hold up even when compared to some Sun City Girls’ disc…it’s that crazy. Check the review at the EBX.
